The Highway Code has been updated on 14 September 2021. The update can be found on the government website https://www.gov.uk/guidance/the-highway-code/updates

The new Rule H2 (page5-6): At a junction, you should give way to pedestrians crossing or waiting to cross a road into which or from which you are turning.

A topic always discussed on lessons is tailgating and the advice in Rule 126 has been updated which the DVSA say is to ensure readers understand:

• what tailgating is, how it occurs, why it is dangerous and how to avoid it
• dangerous and careless driving offences, such as tailgating, are enforced by the police
• safe distances between vehicles on icy roads are ten times greater

The new paragraph reads:

Tailgating is where the gap between you and the vehicle in front is too small for you to be able to stop safely if the vehicle in front suddenly brakes.

Tailgating is dangerous, intimidating and can cause collisions, especially when driving at speed. Keeping a safe distance from the vehicle in front gives you time to react and stop if necessary. Dangerous and careless driving offences, such as tailgating, are enforced by the police.
